Concession prices would go up to pay for proposed raises for Newark airport workers

Wages for some of the lowest paid airport employees, who work for contractors, could be going up starting in January under a proposal announced by Gov. Phil Murphy and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul Tuesday.
If approved next month, it would give the workers their first raises since 2023.
The proposed Port Authority policy change covers thousands of airport workers at Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports and provides annual wage increases beyond a policy the bi-state authority approved in 2018.
